01. Notch Method

Korean ancestors have been living in their Korean-style houses made out of wood, mud and tiles.
Having disliked hammering nails made of steel into their homes, the ancestors carved grooves into the wood to create notches when building their homes. We make our BEDs with the same devotion and technology used back then to build the houses.

02. What is a notch method?
A notch method is a type of method where grooves are carved to fit pieces together, without using nails or bolts. It is a highly difficult technology of manufacturing all the combination pieces for an accurate fit, while considering everything from twisting to splitting of the wood.

 

03. What are the advantages of using the notch method?
a. No separate foreign matter is inserted into the connecting areas, meaning that the passage of time will not result in decay or aging on a specific area to damage the entire product.
b. There is no twisting phenomenon on the wood.
c. It gives off an elegant style of the nature. The wooden frame, itself, breathes repeatedly through the contraction effect even after a long passage of time. The splitting phenomenon is a consequential result of the contraction effect.

 

Wood may split in hot and dry areas from a lack of moisture, which means that the wood always contains a certain amount of water inside.
